Through Grief
THE STORY OF KINTSUGI
Kintsugi 金継ぎ is a profound Japanese philosophy and practice that embraces breakage as part of an object's story, not something to conceal. Translated as "golden joinery," Kintsugi involves repairing broken pottery with a lacquer mixed with gold powder. Rather than hiding the cracks, Kintsugi highlights them, illuminating the beauty in repair and honoring the history of the object. This art form stands as a profound metaphor for healing, showing us that what is broken can be restored with both beauty and purpose.
Kintsugi is practiced with a sense of intention and purpose. Driven by a deep desire to restore and rebuild, the individual gives new life to something precious that had been broken. In this way Kintsugi becomes a metaphor for the process of healing from loss; in essence, experiencing renewal and meaning through mending. The end result, whether a repaired bowl or a mended heart, pays homage to its history, its story, while also celebrating the revised version as something valuable and beautiful in its own right.

Who we are
About Our Center
At the heart of the Kintsugi art form lies the beauty of mending what has been broken. Grief and loss are part of the human experience, moments when we feel shattered under the weight of pain and sorrow.
Kintsugi Grief Center offers hope, providing a space where healing begins. We recognize the unique needs of grieving individuals and communities, especially those with complex grief, and we are here to guide them through meaningful healing journeys.
As life changes, so does the importance of fostering community and connection. Our mission is to bring together hearts in healing, to support one another, and to discover meaning through transformation.
